How to Write-In Tracey Verhoeven

When you write in Tracey Verhoeven’s name on the ballot, your vote will count because she is an official, Georgia Secretary of State Certified (click here for certification) candidate. This is important, as only votes for approved candidates are included in the final results. Writing in someone like “Mickey Mouse” wouldn’t count since they aren’t a registered candidate.

A team called the Vote Review Panel (VRP) checks all write-in votes to make sure the voter’s intent is clear. If you write “Tracey Verhoeven” or even a close variation like “Tracy Verhoven,” they will still count it. However, if the name is too unclear, it may not be counted.

Electronic & Absentee Ballots

For both electronic and absentee ballots, the VRP reviews write-ins and spelling variations to capture the voter’s intent. If the two members of the panel—one from each major party—disagree, a neutral/non-partisan election staff member steps in to resolve it.
